Opinion Essay

In this section of the OSSLT, you will write an opinion essay.  You will be asked to express your opinion on a topic given to you.

• Give your opinion.  Pick a side and stick to it: YES or NO but not both

• Fill the space:  approximately 500 words or 2 pages

• Have a plan.  Plan your paragraphs before writing your good copy; there is a rough notes tool that will open a new typing window for rough work.

• Use transition words.

• Include:

  • an introduction,

  • body (3 paragraphs: one per supporting evidence) and

  • conclusion.

• You will be evaluated on Topic Development and Writing Conventions
